Assembly Blue Ribbon Commission on Early Childhood Education

The Assembly Blue Ribbon Commission is holding a hearing on March 11, 2019 at the State Capitol in Room 4202 to take public comment on their draft report. A draft will be released publicly prior to the hearing; there will be a public comment period for a few days after the hearing. The Commissioners anticipate a final release of the report in April 2019. For updates, visit https://speaker.asmdc.org/blue-ribbon-commission-hearings. Attached is the hearing flyer.

State Legislation Update

Attached is the matrix of legislation bills of likely interest to the field of early care and education introduced to date updated as of today – March 5, 2019. The Child Care Planning Committee and Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development’s Joint Committee on Legislation is in the process of assigning levels of interest to the bills. Note that levels of interest do not indicate a recommended pursuit of position; rather it identifies bills that will be monitored with greater scrutiny that may or may not result in a recommended position.

The legislature last day to introduce bills was Friday, February 22nd.
