Dear Marin County Child Care Commission and friends,

“Public Charge” is a term used by U.S. immigration officials to refer to a person who is considered likely to become primarily dependent on the government for subsistence. The Federal Government is proposing changes to public charge-related policies that, if implemented, will impact the field of early care and education, children, and families.

You will find more information on the topic in the slide deck attached. Please find below an email by the Protect Immigrant Families Campaign with information about opportunity for action related to the new proposed Public Charge regulations. The comment period begins today and will be open for 60 days.

There will also be a Twitter Chat tomorrow at 11:00 A.M. about the topic – #EarlyEdChat – info below.

Kind regards,

Greetings partners,

Today is the day. The Trump administration just officially posted their cruel "public charge" regulation and we’re ready to fight back.

Today we are launching a new look and a new website for the Protecting Immigrant Families Campaign. At ProtectingImmigrantFamilies.org, impacted individuals and community members will be able to submit unique comments directly to the federal website and learn the basics of "public charge" and why this fight matters for communities across the country. The Trump administration will hear our voices.

Full Digital Toolkit
To make it easier for your team to promote the new campaign website, we created a comprehensive digital toolkit for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram — complete with 1) sample social media, 2) graphics, and 3) a sample e-blast for your email lists.

Below is a preview of the kind of content found in the toolkit. We highly encourage you to utilize this content and adapt it if need be to fit your voice and needs. As the 60-day comment period rolls on, we will have many more digital actions for you to take to help delay or even stop Trump’s latest attempt to hurt families and ruin lives.

· Our lives should be defined by how we contribute to our communities—not by how much money we have. But a new Trump regulation would ensure only wealthy immigrants could build a future in the U.S. We need to fight back to #ProtectFamilies! bit.ly/submitcomment
